August 16th – 3pm – Readings from book Unbreaking the Circle sponsored by SouthWest Writers. Several of the book’s authors will present their stories. Rose will present The Motorcycle Doughboy about her grandfather, WWI army soldier, Joseph Huser. The event takes place at the South Valley Library, located at 3904 Isleta Blvd SW in Albuquerque, NM.
August 24-August 30 – The Dreamy Writer’s Cruise – Event takes place on board the Holland-America cruise ship, Westerdam. Departing Seattle, WA August 24, the ship sails to Anchorage, Alaska with stops for activities in ports enroute. The writer’s conference events take place during the days the ship is at sea. Solar Fiesta! Organized by the New Mexico Solar Energy Association as an adjunct of the American Solar Energy Society’s Annual Conference, this one day event set at the University of New Mexico campus featured presentations and demonstrations on many aspects of solar and sustainable living. Rose Kern from Solar Ranch in association with Luther Kreiger from the Big Blue Museum of Solar Cooking held cooking demonstrations all day with over a dozen different kinds of solar cookers including the mammoth Solar Villager.
